How it Tastes

If you like a punchy yet tasty coffee with chocolate and nutty notes, you'll like this! There are also some sweet & citrus notes, reminiscent of the fruits grown among the coffee trees in this reserve, including Panela (cane sugar), Pineapples and Lemons.

A great bean for espresso, cafetiere, Aeropress & stovetop, but works equally well for pour over.

Finca La Laguna Reserva

This is a very small association of just 12 families who were previously operating independently, but who joined forces following the "strength in numbers" principle, making them less vulnerable to the unfair dealings that they felt they were often subjected to as a result of their former autonomy.

Once they created their alliance, they joined the Cencoic Co-Operative (Central Cooperativa Indígena del Cauca), a co-op of indigenous reserves in the Cauca region with nineteen groups totaling almost 2,800 smallholder families.

Lovely rich espresso

Only my second order, and the third/fourth coffee I've tried, and it's every bit as good as the others. Dark and rich with good body but no bitterness, nice low level of acidity for me and nice crema too.
Ground with a Niche Zero set at 18, and a Sage Bambino Plus (one month old only!) and it also makes a great latte.
I need to keep trying a few more to work out which ones will be my regulars but this one is definitely in the short list so far.

Just got better! 10/10

Well done Kev and the team, my latest delivery of these beans has outdone anything before!
I’ve tried a few different beans from the coffeeworks a little but keep coming back to this. Genuinely rich aromas and evident chocolate flavours, I love the lingering aftertaste.
This is one for expresso fans after an aromatic sweet authentic shot whom won’t be adding milk, sugar or over-diluting. It’s on the darker roast spectrum but I think soooo much more tasty than the Italian coffee shop style blends which can often overpower. I favour a double shot poured over a little hot water so as to keep the crema, careful not too much water though so as not to lose the smooth expresso mouth-feel. Swill it around your mouth, froth it up as much as you can before swallowing and just relish the caramel and nutty aftertaste and aroma.
Kev: either you’ve had a new season delivery from Columbia, the local farmers have improved picking or grading or something, or you nailed it with roasting duration etc, because my most recent batch is producing the best expresso ever.
I use a Sage touch impress, with an IMS double basket, typically pulling shots around 31 seconds.
High praise that I felt compelled to provide 👍

Beautiful flavour

Coffeworks Choc &Nut Columbia makes a perfect creamy espresso. Perfect UK coffee bean roast for me after living in Italy 27 years. Ground with 1ZPRESSO hand grinder and extracted using Sage Bambino :-)

Great Coffee

We have been experimenting with our coffee beans to figure out the style that we like most, and the Choc & Nut Columbia is as good as anything that we have found so far. It’s not too fruity or spicy, and is exactly as it is called ‘choc & nut’ with a smooth milk chocolate undercurrent rather than bitter dark chocolate.
